Your Name Is Mine

An exhibition of new work by Tamara Becerra Valdez

Through her use of repetition and excavation in archival materials, Valdez explores ways in which we preserve memory, recover personal histories and share narratives. In her exhibition, she restages artifacts and reveals overlooked and forgotten details found in the vernacular.

Your Name Is Mine considers the sentimental and remarkable notions in legacy.

Music for Pressing Flowers & Other Pressing Matters

In the short video, Las Cosas Que Dejamos (The Things We Leave Behind), Valdez follows a young relative inside the house of her grandmother as she explores the unfamiliar objects and spaces. The video walks along the margins of home video capture, auto-ethnography and poetic observations of everyday life.
